It’s no secret. Wanderlust wives are happier wives! “Women who vacationed less often than once every two years were more likely to suffer from depression and increased stress than women who took vacations at least twice a year.” (USA Today, What are the benefits of taking a vacation?) Traveling is good for the mind, body and soul! Here are the three types of trips, every Fab Wife should take each year!

Just the two of us. This annual trip is not even up for discussion. For the Plummer’s, its mandatory. Even during years we have goals that require larger financial commitments, we’ll still plan an extended weekend in a nearby city (such as Atlanta).
Traveling with just the two of us allows us to find new ways to explore each other’s interests and gives us time to have meaningful heart-to-heart discussions on how to continuously satisfy each other’s needs without life’s distractions.
The girl’s getaway. Nothing makes me feel more young and free then being with my girls! A trip with your “day ones” usually consists of non-stop laughs and reminiscing. I am reminded of the simpler days when the bills were non-existent and I could quit a job simply because the boss refused to give me the Saturday off I requested…Lol. It also makes me appreciate how my life has evolved and the load I am blessed to be able to bear in being A wife and mom.
Family Trip. It’s very important for me to create memories with my kids. When I think of my childhood, I often think of the experiences my mom created for me and I want to create awesome experiences my kids can look back on too! Besides…family trips give us the best excuses to be a kid again!
Bonus Trips (not mandatory, but awesome if you could fit them in):
- Couples Trip/Marriage Retreat– connecting with other marriage-minded couples is a great way to commit to love and marriage
- Extended Family Trips- Not to be confused with “Family Trips”. (The family trip is just for your immediate family to connect and spend much-needed quality time with each other outside of your normal routine.) Extended family trips include members outside of your immediate family and are meant to be a larger trip for a chance to reunite others- favorite aunts/uncles, cousins, etc.
These trips do not have to break the bank either! Get out of thinking that you have to fly to another country to have a good vacation. Explore the city nearby or even plan a vacation in another part of your own city. Need inspiration? Create a travel vision board. How to Create a Travel Vision Board.
