The Declaration of Rights That Changed My Life

Life gets super busy and, as wives, we are required to wear multiple hats.  I don’t know about you, but I often feel like I’m a project manager.  Caring for myself and my family forces me to make sure I’m complimenting my spouse to attend to the needs of our family and home. I often write myself notes and use my electronic calendar to keep my head above water.

Yikes, when did this become my life!

Seven Rights for Wives

I’m sure you can relate to what I’m describing here.  Fab Wife Rhea has stated before that “being a fab wife is more than just looking fab.” In order to keep myself feeling great, I was forced to set limits and boundaries with others — and myself.  Here are seven Wife Rights that changed my life:

1) I have the right to say no without explaining myself (of course this excludes the husband — he may need a rationale for my actions).

2) I have the right to do less than I’m humanly capable of doing and not feel guilty.

3) I have the right to take a “rejuvenation” day away from work and take my child to daycare while my husband goes to work.

4) I have the right not to cook every day.

5) I have the right not to fold and put away clothes immediately after they are laundered.

6) I have a right to a “girls night out” to connect with my friends.

7) I have the right to love myself in the midst of a busy schedule and deadlines.

Maybe you have or will adopt some of my wife rights to make sure you are remaining a fab wife. I passionately enjoy being a wife and wouldn’t trade this experience for the world, but I’ve found it important to share my experiences with other amazing wives so that we all can enjoy the beautiful marriages we’ve visualized for ourselves.
